Now, in reponse to the first part, when people ask this question of JWs, they're asking about the living, not the dead. So total red herring right off the bat. And by stating that they will have an "opportunity for salvation", they are saying that these resurrected ones will have an opportunity to become JWs. So yes, only the resurrected ones who become JWs will be "saved".
In response to the second part, if you understand what they mean by "serve god" (of course only JWs serve god acceptably) then what they're saying is, again, Yes, only JWs will be saved.

Nah. The "destruction of the wicked" at armageddon is a vague, compartmentalized, fantasy belief that most JWs don't think about in real-world terms. The ones that do, and still look forward to it, are the real sickos.

To believe that we continue to exist in some form after the cessation of our biological and molecular functions is to postulate that there is something to existence other than biological and molecular functions. I dunno, maybe there is, but I doubt it. But death is, and always will be, the great and frightening unknown. It sure scares the crap out of me. And I was SO SURE that I had escaped its inevitability when I joined up with the Johos too, so big bummer there.
I think being an ex-JW makes you a little EXTRA aware of your mortality.
one of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.
unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.
jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.
I keep thinking -
How is it that the numbers keep growing in the US, and the west in general, if supposedly at least half of all JWs raised in da twoof here leave it at some point, and also given that JWs generally aren't big baby makers? Spanish language congregations account for some of it, for sure, but those alone couldn't possibly be enough to offset the low retention rate.
Then it occurred to me. This is just speculation and guesswork, but it would seem to me that the age distribution among JWs probably isn't the same as the general population, due to the late-60s/early 70s influx. So what you have in the USA is a mass of baby-boomer aged JWs, and their kids (the ones who stuck with it anyway) and grandkids, so you have three generations of Jaydubs attending kingdoom hells in the USA, plus the 80s converts and their kids (a sort of echo effect), that are all there mostly because of the mentioned late 60s/early 70s spike.
I would speculate that if you were to compare the age distribution of the population of the USA as a whole vs. that of JWs, you would find that boomer-aged JWs make up a significantly higher percentage of JWs as a whole than the same group in respect to the general population. At the same time I would also speculate that there are relatively fewer JWs in their 70s and 80s than those in the same age range in the gen pop, because the ones in this age range would (mostly) have come in prior to the spike.
So i say, JWism in the white west dies with the boomers, the ones who enthusiastically embraced JWism in the heady days of the early 70s, and held on for decades after, and who keep holding on, who are now in their 60s and silently wondering just WHEN THE HELL ARMAGEDDON IS GONNA GET HERE??
i've been watching a very interesting documentary regarding the state of planet earth.. in a nutshell, (scientifically/physically/factualy) earth is experiencing 'pressure' that points to one inevitable result, to correct itself (or more specifically, to correct the effects of the present human cause, in ex- pollution, global warming, resource depletion etc.)..
the last time earth 'corrected' itself, there was mass extinction.
for proof, check out the dinosaur fossil record (unless they are a hoax.).
So, would economic, political, environmental, and social collapse vindicate JWism? In a way?
considering all the consequences of leaving the organization (especially the loss of family), some who have already known ttat have decided to return and continue with the flow just to keep their families and friend.. my question is if anyone here had tried it and how they have been managing living a lie constantly day-after-day?, as i am seriously considering returnning back to the full routine..

I came away from the 2001 DC with the exact same feeling as your wife. The 'Korah' drama in particular made me nauseous. It was the last DC I ever attended.

I never thought of it that way, but that's an excellent insight. I have a feeling that the 7-day WTS conventions that took place during the JW heyday of the 1950s and 1960s didn't include hysterical, hateful rantings about apostates and endless empty platitudes about the need to remain loyal loyal loyal (or maybe they did LOL). Things were looking GOOD in WTS-land back in those days. The average JW was excited, enthusiastic, a million miles from ever dreaming of falling away. Not so much these days apparently.
